Approved for a growth disorderHeight measured in peopleBy injectionPeptideAlso Voxzogo, BMN-111
A manufactured copy of CNP, the body's own signal for the NPR2 receptor, rebuilt to survive longer in the blood, and the first approved drug for achondroplasia.
A 39-amino-acid CNP analogue: a Pro-Gly appended to the 37 C-terminal residues of human CNP-53, developed to maximise half-life and NPR-B activity while resisting cleavage by neutral endopeptidase. Half-life is about 20 to 30 minutes, and it is injected subcutaneously. Approved for achondroplasia since 2021, from birth until the growth plates close.
Risks. Blood pressure drops after a dose, enough that children are told to drink and eat first, and nearly every child gets a reaction where the needle goes in.
