Erectile dysfunction and lung blood pressure drugs that stop a cell messenger being broken down.
PDE5 inhibitors. They block PDE5-mediated hydrolysis of cGMP, raising intracellular cGMP where PDE5 is the operative cGMP-degrading enzyme. They are erectile dysfunction and lung blood pressure drugs.
Risks. In the two trials of sildenafil in children, more of those on higher doses died — 22% on the highest against 9% on the lowest. The label puts that down to the disease rather than the drug.
