A heart failure drug that blocks the enzyme which chops up CNP, the body's own signal for the NPR2 receptor, so more of it survives.

A neprilysin inhibitor, marketed only in fixed combination with the angiotensin II receptor blocker valsartan. Neprilysin is the enzyme that degrades CNP, so inhibiting it leaves more CNP to act on NPR2 without supplying any. FDA approved to reduce cardiovascular death and heart failure hospitalisation in adults with chronic heart failure, and for symptomatic heart failure with systemic left ventricular systolic dysfunction in paediatric patients aged 1 year and older. No skeletal indication.
