A thyroid-like tablet built to act on the liver, approved in 2024 for a fatty liver disease in adults.
Oral TRβ-selective thyroid receptor agonist. Accelerated FDA approval in March 2024 for adults with noncirrhotic MASH and moderate to advanced fibrosis, alongside diet and exercise — the first drug approved for that disease.
Risks. It can injure the liver and bring on gallstones, and it raises the level of common cholesterol drugs taken alongside it.
