Thyroid hormone
Why the growth plate needs it, what childhood thyrotoxicosis does to final height, and why the selective thyroid drugs are built to avoid bone.
Thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3), from the thyroid gland. Permissive for growth plate function rather than driving it: required for chondrocyte maturation and for the GH/IGF-1 axis to operate. Above sufficiency it speeds growth and skeletal maturation together, without raising final height SDS.
