A lab-made copy of the outer part of the receptor that slows cartilage growth, given to soak up the signalling molecules before they reach the real receptor.

A soluble decoy receptor: a recombinant FGFR3 ectodomain that binds ligand without transducing signal. It reached clinical trials in achondroplasia and was discontinued.

Risks. It was never approved, so no regulator set out its risks.
