Oral phosphate plus calcitriol

In human trialsHeight measured in peopleBy mouthNutrient
Phosphate taken by mouth with active vitamin D to help absorb it: the older treatment, which replaces what the kidney throws away and leaves the hormone causing the loss untouched.
Phosphate supplied directly by mouth with an active vitamin D analogue to assist its absorption. Standard practice rather than an approved combination product, and the treatment burosumab was tested against. It does not lower FGF23, which is elevated in XLH.
Risks. It can leave calcium deposits in the kidneys, found in 30 to 70% of patients, and the phosphate can overwork the parathyroid glands.
