The fatty acids in fish and algae oil. They are food, and the body turns them into the signals that actively end inflammation.

Long-chain fatty acids from fish and algal oil, food rather than medicine, though purified ethyl esters are prescription drugs for high triglycerides. They are the precursors of the resolvins and maresins, the molecules that actively switch inflammation off rather than merely letting it fade.

Risks. Ordinary food with no particular danger. Large amounts thin the blood slightly and upset the stomach, and prescription-strength doses have been linked to an irregular heartbeat.
