NF-κB relay inhibitors
Cells and tissue onlyNot measured in peopleResearch onlySmall molecule
Five compounds, three from plants and one made in a laboratory, that all block the same inflammatory switch at different points.
Five compounds that interrupt the same relay at different points: parthenolide from feverfew and andrographolide from Andrographis, both of which modify the pathway’s proteins covalently; BAY 11-7082, a synthetic laboratory reagent; and ursolic acid and oleanolic acid, two plant triterpenoids.
Risks. No safety data for any of them. Two work by permanently sticking to proteins, which is not a precise way to act on a cell.
