Nandrolone decanoate

Approved, for something elseMeasured in people, not heightBy injectionSteroid
An injected anabolic steroid, approved in the US only for the anaemia of kidney failure.
An anabolic steroid: 19-nortestosterone, esterified for depot injection, approved in the US for the anaemia of renal insufficiency. Testosterone is 5α-reduced to dihydrotestosterone, which binds the androgen receptor more tightly, while nandrolone is 5α-reduced to a metabolite that binds it less tightly, so its androgenic potency falls in the tissues that make that conversion while its anabolic potency does not.
Risks. Its label warns in capitals about blood-filled cysts in the liver that can bleed without warning, and liver tumours. For height it warns the opposite of what is wanted: anabolic steroids can mature the bones faster than they grow, so an adult may end up shorter.
