Meclizine

Approved, for something elseHeight measured in peopleBy mouthSmall molecule
An old antihistamine that turns down part of the message from the receptor that slows cartilage growth, by a route nobody has worked out.
An antihistamine, raised here as a repurposing candidate rather than a drug developed for growth. How it acts on this pathway is unclear: it lowered ERK phosphorylation, but not MEK phosphorylation, in FGF-treated chondrocytes, and how it does so is not known.
Risks. It makes people drowsy enough that the label says not to drive on it, and it has never been established as safe in children.
