Chemical structure of Indirubin-3'-oxime
Structure: Indirubin-3'-oxime, PubChem CID 3707

Animals onlyNot measured in peopleResearch onlySmall molecule

A plant dye derivative that blocks GSK3, as lithium does. It lengthened a bone in mice, a result often credited to BIO, a near-identical chemical never tested for it.

The parent oxime of the indirubins, a GSK3 inhibitor that raises Wnt/β-catenin signalling. It and KY19382 are the two molecules in this family with a bone growth result. It is routinely confused with KY19382 and with the brominated version, BIO, which has none.

Risks. No safety data in people. The enzyme it blocks does many jobs at once, and keeping this pathway switched on is a known route to cancer.
