BMP-9

Cells and tissue onlyNot measured in peopleResearch onlyProtein or enzymeAlso GDF-2
The member of the BMP family that circulates in the blood, made by the liver. Never trialled as a treatment.
The circulating member of the family, made mainly by the liver, and the high-affinity ligand for the ALK1 receptor. Approved nowhere, with no therapeutic trials; what exists on ClinicalTrials.gov for it is observational.
Risks. Never given to a person. People who lack it have blood vessel problems rather than bone problems, and it is being developed as a lung blood pressure drug, so using it for bone would risk bone forming in the wrong places.
