BMP-2/7 heterodimer

Inside the plate · In BMP and TGF-β

Cells and tissue onlyNot measured in peopleResearch onlyProtein or enzyme

One molecule built from half of BMP-2 and half of BMP-7. The two originals are approved for surgery; this combined version is not.

A single molecule made of one BMP-2 chain and one BMP-7 chain, produced by expressing both together rather than by mixing them. Approved nowhere, with no clinical trials at all. Both homodimers are approved surgical products; this is not.

Risks. No one has taken it, so nothing specific is known. It would be expected to carry the known problems of BMP-2, including bone forming where it should not, only stronger.
