A laboratory tool that strips a silencing mark off DNA packaging.

An inhibitor of the G9a/EHMT2 histone methyltransferase, found in a screen of 125,000 compounds and built as a chemical tool for erasing a repressive histone mark reversibly in cells. It inhibits the partner enzyme GLP/EHMT1 as well. Never developed as a medicine for anything.

Mol Cell, 2007

Risks. Nobody has taken it, it is built to kill cells, and its target silences genes across the whole genome.
