A research-only chemical, easily confused by name with an approved leukaemia drug that it is not.
A synthetic retinobenzoic acid that selectively activates the retinoic acid receptor alpha, used as a laboratory reference retinoid. Despite the near-identical naming it is a different molecule from tamibarotene: the two are reverse-amide isomers, the same atoms joined the other way round. It has no approval anywhere and no registered trial.
Risks. No person has taken it, and in animals it deforms developing limbs and faces.
