AdipoRon
Animals onlyNot measured in peopleResearch onlySmall molecule
A laboratory chemical, given by mouth in animal work, that switches on both receptors the fat hormone adiponectin uses. It is approved nowhere and nobody has taken it.
A non-peptidic synthetic agonist of both adiponectin receptors, orally active in rodents. It binds AdipoR1, which signals through AMPK, and AdipoR2, which signals through PPAR-α, reproducing adiponectin's own effects in muscle and liver. A research compound: no regulator anywhere has approved it, and no person has been given it.
Risks. It has no label anywhere, so there is no boxed warning, and no person has ever taken it, so nothing is known about its safety in people. In the mouse study it repaired the metabolic damage and left the lost bone length untouched.
