An injected osteoporosis drug copied from the natural signal that holds cartilage cells dividing in a growth plate.

A synthetic analogue derived from PTHrP(1–34) that binds the G protein-coupled RG conformation of PTH1R more selectively than PTH(1–34) does, giving a potent but transient cAMP response. Approved for osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high fracture risk.

Endocrinology, 2016

Risks. Bone tumours in rodents led to its original top-level warning, and the label still says to avoid it while growth plates are open.
