Cells and tissue onlyNot measured in peopleResearch onlySmall molecule

A chemical from the periwinkle plant, related to two cancer drugs but without their effects on dividing cells. Sold for research only.

An alkaloid from Madagascar periwinkle, the plant that gives vinblastine and vincristine, and the precursor they are built from. It is not itself an antimitotic: its tubulin binding is marginal, needing concentrations orders of magnitude above vincristine, so the familiar vinca harms do not carry over. A research chemical with no human use.

Risks. No safety data at all. It triggers insulin release, which can drop blood sugar dangerously in someone who is not diabetic, and it interferes with how other drugs are handled.
