In human trialsMeasured in people, not heightBy mouthSmall moleculeAlso mefluleucine
A pill that imitates the amino acid the cell's growth sensor reads as a sign of food, built to work in the brain.
Orally available small molecule that binds Sestrin2 and activates mTORC1 through the leucine-sensing arm. Designed for the brain, where leucine itself is a poor mTORC1 activator because it is consumed as a metabolic precursor before it can signal. Carried into human trials as SPN-820.
Risks. In its depression trial, side effects were much like placebo, mostly nausea and dizziness, and the trial failed. It has only been given to adults.
