JAK2, STAT5B and GH resistance

The step between the growth hormone receptor and hepatic IGF-1, the brake the same signal switches on, and why inflammation stops growth hormone working without lowering it.

JAK2 and STAT5B: growth hormone twists its receptor pair, the two JAK2 enzymes activate and tag STAT5B, which pairs up, enters the nucleus and switches on the IGF-1 gene. SOCS, induced by the same signal, shuts the receptor down. SOCSGHGHR pairJAK2STAT5Ba pairIGF1 gene onGH twists the pairSTAT5B carries itIGF-1 madeJAK2 switches onpairs, moves inSOCS turns it off

Growth hormone binds its receptor and the liver makes IGF-1 (see Growth hormone and IGF-1 and IGF-1R). Between those two events sit a kinase and a transcription factor. Most of what goes wrong with growth hormone goes wrong here, not at either end.
